[update5] I feel like Homer Simpson: site goes up, site goes down. Site goes up, site goes down. My apologies as the code errors that some of you are experiencing are aggravating to me too.[/update5]
After much prodding, cursing (like the kind that would make pirates blush), kicking, screaming, and did I mention cursing? he sign up application is up and running. Albeit many hours later than I wanted. My apologies for the delay.
Zach and I have been pulling our hair out for the last two days bashing bugs that just shouldn’t have even been there. The biggest issue was a missing hyphen (which kept the app from running); always hard to track down something that small in a web app. But who cares… it’s working! If you notice any issues with it please leave a comment on this post. The sign up page will be our way to officially count how many sites Went Pink, though we’ll use other means to count too.
So please sign up and add your site to the list. I’ll be moderating all submissions to reduce spam so you may have to wait a bit to see your site in the list. If I am not sleeping it won’t take longer than an hour. If I am sleeping… A little longer. :)
We are doing some fun code magic and taking screen shots of all the sites that submit, so it will be easy to get a quick look via thumbnail as to what the sites look like.
My thanks to Zach for coding it. My thanks to me for finding where the missing hyphen needed to be. :)
And finally my thanks to everyone that’s Going Pink this year.
And for the record, if your site requires a login to see, the thumbnails may not show up properly or at all. Nonetheless, we appreciate your support!

Thanks for creating this.

Seems like you should have more breast cancer resources, informational sites, linked from your site. If there are here, they are hard to find. I did make my blog pink. Thanks for your effort.
Comment by Jocelyn — 1 October 2007 @ 12:38
Hi Jocelyn,
We do have a page called Make A Difference. I’ll be adding to it as the month goes along.
Plus I’ll be posting a few times a week about other resources.
Comment by Matthew Oliphant — 1 October 2007 @ 13:12
Oh, and if anyone gets a page that says “Proxy Error” on the site submission page please refresh a couple of times. We know about the issue and are working to fix it.
Comment by Matthew Oliphant — 1 October 2007 @ 13:13
Thank you! This is a wonderful idea and service (even though my blog title is wrong in my submission). :-)
Comment by Kate — 1 October 2007 @ 13:18
Woo! 100 sites in 4 hours. Great!
Comment by Matthew Oliphant — 1 October 2007 @ 15:06
Is there any way to go back and edit the site information once you’ve submitted it? There was an edit link when I first submitted, but it is no longer available.
Also, I’m a little unclear on the 1-5 star ranking. Is there a reason for having it? If not, is there a way to remove it? I personally don’t like the idea of judging other sites that are participating.
Comment by Meghan — 1 October 2007 @ 15:22
Yay bugs do seem to have been squished. Looking good and signed up.
Comment by karmatosd — 1 October 2007 @ 15:24
Meghan, editing submissions is coming. As far as stars, it’s just for fun. Doesn’t mean anything in the end. Just a way for people to easily say they link a site.
Comment by Matthew Oliphant — 1 October 2007 @ 15:35
Nice job. It is a good thing you made a system with over 100 submission in 4 hours :)
Comment by Thomas Baekdal — 1 October 2007 @ 15:38
Well done Matthew!, keep up the good work. :)
Comment by Sam — 1 October 2007 @ 15:50
Matthew – Glad to be Pink For October along with you and all these other great sites. We really hope with all of the PR we do this month that we are able to bring awareness to a subject that affects so many of us!
On a side note, my site doesn’t require passwords yet my thumbnail does not show up.
Comment by Jennifer Von Powell — 1 October 2007 @ 16:04
Jennifer. That’s one of the bugs we are working on. I’ll rerun the thumbnail generation n sites missing the image.
Once technology stops trying to kill me. :)
Comment by Matthew Oliphant — 1 October 2007 @ 16:10
Matthew – That’s appreciated! We run several websites and technology always beats us!
Comment by Jennifer Von Powell — 1 October 2007 @ 16:22
Sorry! I got a proxy error when I tried to sign up and I thought it hadn’t worked, so I tried again, but I got that my username and email were taken by someone, so I tried to login and got a proxy error…
Don’t know what that is.
Comment by kristarella — 1 October 2007 @ 16:24
This is wonderful. I am still working on getting that button image to display, but I’m already pink! Thank you from a 2-time survivor for helping to spread the word!
Comment by Katie — 1 October 2007 @ 16:59
I signed up earlier today. The site looks great!
Comment by Jenn — 1 October 2007 @ 18:03
I couldn’t get you sign up to work, but I went pink.
Comment by Meg L. — 1 October 2007 @ 22:50
My site is all pretty in pink, just can’t get to the sign up page at the moment, will have to check back later.
Comment by Dean — 1 October 2007 @ 23:12
Not sure if the signups are down right now but I’m getting an error when I visit the signup page? “We’re sorry, but something went wrong. We’ve been notified about this issue and we’ll take a look at it shortly.”
Comment by Ashley — 2 October 2007 @ 0:16
Great effort on the site! Personally, I’m not liking the ’stars’ thing even though it’s just for fun. I agree that there’s really no purpose to judge participating sites.
Comment by reverie — 2 October 2007 @ 2:31
Um, your sign up form still isn’t working. I just keep getting a “something went wrong message” Any idea when it’s coming back up online? Either way, I’m already pink. ^_^
I think the site looks awesome by the way. Great job!
Comment by Joana — 2 October 2007 @ 4:46
Hi Matt,
As people are saying above, the signup page isn’t working. Could you add http://tammersaleh.com when it starts up again (or just send me an email)?
Thanks,
Tammer
Comment by Tammer Saleh — 2 October 2007 @ 8:37
Hey Tammer.
I approved 2 sites while you were leaving your comment. Try again, please?
Comment by Matthew Oliphant — 2 October 2007 @ 8:53
I was going to send you an email to tell you that it’s already October 2nd here in Malaysia, LOL.
Comment by pelf — 2 October 2007 @ 10:03
I signed up with no problems. Thanks for adding me.
Comment by Jenny — 2 October 2007 @ 12:33
Hi Matthew,
The signup sheet isn’t working again. When you have a chance could you please add http://www.electricsistahood.com to the listing as we are glad to show our support again this year.
Thanks,

trying to sign up, not working. I did use a badge on my page, and changed it to pink!
Thanks!!

Your list still isn’t working. I’m still getting this message: “We’re sorry, but something went wrong. We’ve been notified about this issue and we’ll take a look at it shortly.”
I’ve tried to get to the list page using the latest Firefox and IE browsers and it’s still a no go. Can you just add me manually please? My information will be the same as what I’m using to comment with.
Comment by Joana — 2 October 2007 @ 13:32
Hi! I think that this is a brilliant idea.
I’ve also been getting an error message for the signup page, the same as Joana above…
Comment by Cerys — 2 October 2007 @ 13:35
I, too, am getting an error message when trying to view the updated list.
By the way, I made a pink ribbon. It’s simple, but cute. You are welcome to use/share.
Comment by Lariza — 2 October 2007 @ 15:01
Aha! It works now! ^_^ I’ve signed up now.
Comment by Joana — 2 October 2007 @ 16:53
I am getting a cold. Figures. :)
Sign up seems to be working. Screen shots are hosed for now. I need some sleep and if you sign up between 10pm Eastern and 8am Eastern tomorrow it may take a while for your site to be moderated.
Rest assured, if you get the confirmation message that we got your site, we got it.
Comment by Matthew Oliphant — 2 October 2007 @ 20:05
Err.. Is it possible to have those blogs/sites categorized alphabetically or something? From what I see, it is very difficult to resume visiting those blogs if you stopped somewhere.
Comment by pelf — 3 October 2007 @ 2:33
Great article. I look forward to reading more in the future.
