Web sites will Go Pink during the month of October to bring attention to Breast Cancer Awareness Month, get people talking about breast cancer, and raise money for research. But to be clear, raising money isn’t the primary purpose of this web event. The hope is that you turn your site pink (in whatever way works for your site), educate yourself about the multiple issues related to Breast Cancer, then take that knowledge and tell someone else what you’ve learned.

2008

We are back for 2008. Or will be on October 1, 2008.

For the month of September, we’ll be working on the site and figuring what new ways we’ll try to get people involved. In 2007 we had ~3000 sites Go Pink and we’re hoping to break that record this year.

If you would like to help with the management of the event, please let us know.

If you are looking for information about the event and how to participate… it’s pretty simple:

You have a web site. Go Pink.

What does Go Pink mean? Whatever you want it to mean. Some people have simply changed the color of their text, some people have done a complete redesign of their site with the event in mind, and others have displayed a simple badge or banner with a link to this site. How you get involved is totally up to you.

We only ask two things: One, tell your site’s visitors why you are Going Pink. Two, link back to this site (we link to you if you sign up, this isn’t link baiting) so people can find out more information. Easy.

If you really want to get wild, as some people did last year, write about any issues of interest related to Breast Cancer. Inform your audience.

As in the past, the focus isn’t on raising money: this is an event with a low bar of entry. The idea is to inform first and perhaps to inspire others to get involved in a way that works for them.

Our thanks to those who have helped with the event and participated in it the past two years. We hope all of you and more join us again in 2008.
